Kimberly Ann VanHulle

June 25, 1962 - August 13, 2022

Kimberly Ann VanHulle, of Canton, Mich., died Saturday, August 13, 2022, surrounded by her family after a short but courageous fight against cancer. She was 60.

Kim was born June 25, 1962, in Dearborn, Mich., to Gerald Fleszar and Margaret Bryan. She grew up in Allen Park, Mich., and graduated from Melvindale High School in 1980. While working at Edgewood Tool and Die in Romulus, Mich., she met Michael VanHulle, the love of her life. They were married December 1, 1984, and together raised three children.

Kim loved arts and crafts and had a particular passion for creating beautiful silk floral arrangements. She shared her talents through the years at craft shows, and was a proud small business owner for a time when she fulfilled a dream of opening her own craft supply store.

Although she spent much of her life in the Detroit area, Kim considered Traverse City, Mich., home after she and her family moved there in 1997. She loved the natural beauty of northern Michigan and had a front-row seat to watch the deer and turkeys and birds migrate through her backyard. It was a special place she carried with her always.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was happiest when all of her children were together. She was the keeper of the family recipes, the host of all holiday gatherings, the photo-taker at school events, their supportive ear and their No. 1 fan.

Kim is survived by her husband of 37 years, Michael; daughters Lindsay (Kevin) Polzin, of Haslett, Mich., and Ashley VanHulle, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; son Keith (Rebeccah) VanHulle, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two granddaughters, Téa Polzin and Ivy VanHulle; her mother, Margaret Bryan, of Farmington Hills, Mich.; her stepmother, Judith Fleszar, of Largo, Fla.; sisters Jean Furby, of Canton, Mich., Richelle (Chris) Frank, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Lenay (Tony) Burdo, of Plantation, Fla.; stepbrother Randall Fleszar, of DeKalb, Ill.; her father-in-law, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Fleszar, and by her stepfather, Richard Bryan.

Memorial Visitation for Kim will be held on Saturday, September 17th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 North Canton Center Rd., Canton.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Kim’s name.
