My thoughts and prayers are with Neil's family and friends. I went to school with him and remember him as a very friendly, funny kid. I am saddened that his life ended so soon, but he made an impression on a lot of people and his life had great value. Rest in peace, Neil.

I am shocked by this. I went to school with Neil and played in the orchestra for 4 years along side him. What a talent. Neil and his family are in my prayers.

I was honored to have grown up with Neil in Farmington Hills and have 4 more years with him when I moved back to Michigan for good. He always did his best to put a smile on peoples faces and to be positive about everything. I always considered myself to be the biggest Detroit fan but, after knowing Neil, he certainly deserved that title. I am honored to have 4 more years with you Neil and I hope I had given you happiness during those years like you had given me. RIP my friend.

A loved ones passing is never easy.

Neil had such a great smile and he was always smiling! I met Neil though our friend Vince. The first time we had met we spent the whole day together! Started at lunch, then to Ann Arbor then to us singing at a restaurant in Brighton! I knew I had gained a good friend that day! After that he always called me Christina (Aguleria) I guess he thought I was that good! I had gotten into a bad car wreck and broke my neck. He was one of the first few calling/texting and trying to get up to U of M to see me. He has such a kind soul! Neil, you will be greatly missed. I still can't believe it. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Patel family. Go Blue! <3

Neil, you always brought a huge smile to my face with your birthday greetings. I wish I had gotten to know you more, but we did live in the same house in undergrad (910StateStreet)!
