It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Janet Michel, age 97, who left us peacefully on April 11, surrounded by her family and friends. On November 11, 1950, she married the love of her life, Leon Joseph Michel, embarking on a beautiful journey together that spanned over 67 years. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Roger Michel (Melissa) and Karen Minassian (George), instilling in them the values of kindness, humor, and the importance of family ties. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon in 2017. Rooted in Oak Park, MI, Janet and Leon created a warm and welcoming home that became the heart of many family gatherings and cherished memories. Upon retiring, they embraced the tranquility of Beverly Hills, FL, but their hearts longed for family, leading them back to their beloved town of Harrisville. After her husband's passing, Janet lived with her loving daughter, Karen, and dedicated son-in-law, George. They shared precious moments together in Farmington Hills, MI—a testament to the unbreakable bond they all shared. Janet was the life of the party, known for her outgoing spirit and infectious sense of humor. Traveling to see her family brought her great joy, creating lasting memories across the miles. Her contagious laughter, warm smile, and compassionate spirit will be profoundly missed. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon, whose love accompanied her throughout life’s journey. Janet leaves behind a legacy of love, a family that adored her, and a rich collection of memories. Her incredible spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her, reminding us of the importance of love, family, friendship, and laughter. As we gather to celebrate Janet’s life, we invite all who knew her to join us in honoring her memory. Please wear cheerful colors in tribute to Janet’s vibrant spirit. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 21, at 11:30 a.m. at Buddy’s Pizza in Novi, MI, where we will share stories, laughter, and tears—just as Janet would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, Janet—herself a breast cancer survivor—would have appreciated donations to the Karmanos Breast Cancer Institute at Karmanos.org. Janet will be laid to rest alongside her husband Leon in Harrisville, MI.Janet Michel
