Lenamarie Hernandez

April 13, 1967 - March 22, 2025

Lenamarie Hernandez, age 57, passed away March 22, 2025.

Lenamarie was a woman of adventure, passion, and style. Her love for traveling took her all around the world, embracing the excitement of new experiences with an open heart. She had an innate ability to make any place feel like home, and her zest for life was felt by everyone she encountered.

Known for her impeccable fashion sense, Lenamarie was a true "Glam-ma" to her grandchildren. They were lucky to have a grandmother who not only dressed with flair but also filled their lives with laughter and love. Her vibrant personality and contagious smile lit up every room she entered, even in the face of illness.

Though Lenamarie’s voice became quieter over time, she found unique ways to express herself, often relying on the universal language of humor. Even when words failed her, a well-timed middle finger became her signature way of communicating discontent, reminding us all that no matter the challenge, she never lost her spark.

Lenamarie faced her trials with remarkable grace and dignity. She taught those around her that resilience isn’t just about surviving—it’s about thriving, no matter the obstacles.

Lenamarie’s warmth, wit, and style will forever be remembered by all who loved her.

Lenamarie was the beloved wife of Omar. Loving mother of Jessica (Kyle) Straka and the late Michael Hernandez. Proud grandmother of Rowan and Liliana Hernandez (and their mother Traci Hernandez) and Stella and Kiko Straka. Cherished daughter Frank (the late Stella) Alcala, Sr. Dearest sister of Frank (Lucy) Alcala, Jr., Marci (Scott) Shine. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lenamarie will lie in state Tuesday, March 25th, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit, 1000 St. Anne Street, Detroit. Lenamarie will be laid to rest with a private family service in Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lenamarie's name may be directed to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Ste 550, Chicago, IL 60631.
