Gerald "Jerry" Towler

September 10, 1942 - March 4, 2025

Gerald A. Towler, age 82 of Canton, passed away March 4, 2025. He was born on September 10, 1942 in Detroit to George and Eva Towler.

A graduate of Melvindale High School, Jerry soon after received his draft notice at the age of 18. He decided to enlist in the Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Earning his pilot's license before his driver's license, Jerry flew helicopters in countless combat missions, ultimately being recognized years later with two Distinguished Flying Cross medals. He was a member of the American Legion Post 32 and a dedicated volunteer with the Yankee Air Museum, where he flew their B-25 Bomber for many years.

Following his honorable discharge, Jerry enjoyed a long and successful career as a corporate pilot. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, continuously entertaining family and friends with his quick wit and great sense of humor. Jerry will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Jerry was the beloved husband of Martie for 57 years. Loving father of Greg (Kelly) and Ryan (Stacey). Proud Papa of Shaun (Michelle), Dylan, Kaitlynn and Addison. Great grandpa of Henrik "Hank" and Stevie. Dear brother of Sue Towler Willis.

Visitation for Jerry will be held on Monday, March 10th, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton. His Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, March 11th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3521 Fourth St., Wayne.

Memorial donations in Jerry's name can be made to the Michigan Flight Museum, 47884 D St. Belleville, MI 48111.
