Virginia "Ginger" Terrien, age 94, passed away March 4, 2025. She was born December 29, 1930 in Stambaugh, Michigan to Conrad and Adeline Lantz. The quintessential farm girl, Ginger learned how to drive a tractor before a car. She attended and graduated from Stambaugh High School, Class of 1949. After graduation she moved to Detroit where she met her future husband, Milton Terrien. The two fell for each other almost immediately and were joined in marriage on August 11th, 1951 in the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament. They made their home in Berkley, Michigan and she worked for the phone company until her first child was born. She then dedicated herself to raising their three children in a loving and supportive household. Anyone who walked through Ginger's door was welcome with open arms. She took the time to truly get to know someone, genuinely interested in each story told. She loved being a mom, often extending her motherly nature beyond her own sons and daughter. She was a devoted wife who supported her husband in all his endeavors. Once the children were grown, she managed the finances of the Southfield Cracker Barrel, a party store co-owned by Milton and his brother Gilbert. Her endless love and compassion extended until Milton's final days, caring for him until his passing from Alzheimer's in 2006. Over the years, Ginger wore many hats. Upon her retirement, she taught catechism at St. Mark Church on Harsens Island, where she was a resident for 25 years. She loved flowers and was president of the Harsens Island Garden Club (1996-1998 and 2007-2008) and was still a member at the time of her passing. She volunteered at the Harsens Island Reader’s Cover Library and dedicated countless hours to preserving the island's history as one of the founding members of the Harsens Island Historical Society. As part of that history herself, Ginger owned and hosted the Maple Leaf Bed & Breakfast on the St. Clair River for ten years. Creative and full of talent, she carved many duck decoys, winning numerous ribbons and best in show. With a kind and thoughtful spirit, Ginger touched so many lives throughout her time on this earth. She was blessed in keeping her sharp mind and infallible memory until her final days and will be remembered for so many wonderful things. Sharing in great conversation with limitless stories, never encountering a stranger, taking care of anyone in need, and simply being everyone's favorite person, Ginger made the world a brighter place. She personified a life well lived and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her and will remain in the hearts of those she loved and cherished. Ginger was the beloved wife of the late Milton for 54 years. Loving mother of Jim (Sue), Jane and Chuck (Patty). Dear grandmother of Brendan (Nicole), Justin (Erin), Alexandra (Jeff) Hageman and Rachel. Adoring great-grandmother of Primo, Taylor, Riley, Adelynn and Molly. A Funeral Mass for Ginger will be held on Monday, March 17th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., with gathering beginning at 12:00 p.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ginger's name can be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit Virginia "Ginger" Terrien
