Carol Gertrude (Smith) Ball, 92, of Canton, Michigan, entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Angela Hospice in Livonia, Michigan.

Carol was born on January 20, 1933, in Boston, Massachusetts, to John and Gertrude (Dunbar) Smith.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Arthur Ball, whom she married on September 18, 1951, in Dearborn, Michigan and her youngest sister, Barbara Jean (Smith) Plahuta. Carol is survived by her middle sister, Eileen (Smith) Yost, two daughters, Patricia (Peter) Wozniak of Bradenton, Florida, and Susan (John) Kell of Germantown Hills, Illinois; six grandchildren, David (Sarah) Wozniak, James Ryan Mulcrone, Patrick (Ushashi) Mulcrone, Lauren (Colin) Proctor, Shannyn Kell and Erynn Kell and two great-grandchildren, Vindya Mulcrone and Kaveri Mulcrone. 

Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many of her neighbors.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, housewife and Godly woman, who loved being a homemaker, decorating her home and gardening.  

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Road, Canton, Michigan.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas a’Becket Catholic Church, 555 S. Lilley Rd., Canton, Michigan, 48188, on Thursday, January 30th, at 10:30 am. Carol will be laid to rest next to her husband James at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
