Steven E. Davis

July 11, 1964 - January 21, 2025

Steven “Steve” Edward Davis died in Emmett County, Michigan on January 21, 2025 at the age of 60.

Steve is survived by his wife, Susan (Winiarski) Davis; his sons, Ryan (Charlotte Master), Steven (Rachel Carson), and Jonathan (Valeria Ward); his father, William Davis; his brother, William Davis (Gina Davis) and his sister, Kathy Hellebuyck (Craig Hellebuyck); his father and mother-in-law, Victor and Gloria Winiarski; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Frank Kenney, and his many nieces and nephews who love him dearly. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Beverly Davis, and his sister, Sharon Davis.

Steve was born in Highland Park, Michigan and grew up in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Steve graduated from Northwood University and pursued a career in financial advisory. Steve worked at several banks and ultimately started his own firm, a family office. He met Sue, the love of his life, through a blind date set up by Wendy Coleman, a mutual friend. After only one year of dating, they got married on June 8, 1991. To avoid Michigan’s brutal winters, Steve raised his three boys in Ocoee, Florida for ten years before returning to Southeast Michigan, in Novi.

Steve was a compassionate, loving, calm, and caring husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was a true mentor to his three boys. He was always willing to help at a moment’s notice, whether it was moving apartments in the middle of summer, vehicle repairs, or home projects. There was never a request that was too burdensome for him to offer a helping hand.

Steve started his own business and operated it for over 22 years. He served his clients with great care, while building long-lasting relationships. Everyone knew they could rely on Steve to provide excellent and friendly service.

Steve was a passionate motor vehicle lover and outdoor enthusiast, spending time with his family on vacation in Northern Michigan and South Haven. He knew how to make the most out of every season, spending the warmer months riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, relaxing on the beach, enjoying the bike trail, swimming at his dad’s pool, grilling for his family, and golfing. The winter months were spent in the hot tub and on the snowmobile trails. He loved sitting with family and friends to play cards while enjoying a cocktail (particularly a strong Manhattan or Old Fashioned). He was always one to bring a fun spirit to card games, while never dwelling on bad luck. He was a proud supporter of the Detroit Lions and Michigan State Spartans and enjoyed hosting family and friends to watch the games. Most mornings you could find him drinking a cup of coffee while reading the newspaper.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26th, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m., at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. All are welcome to attend to celebrate his life.
