Terry Covietz, age 85, passed away December 12, 2024. Named Eunice after her paternal grandmother, she always went by Terry, short for her given middle name Theresa, out of distinction and honor for beloved matriarch Eunice. Terry was born August 19, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan to Burchard and Mariana Mickey. She grew up in Michigan and spent all her life in the state, except for wonderful family trips and other excursions around the country. She attended Catholic primary school in Detroit at St. Gregory’s Parish, and attended public high school at Redford High, graduating in 1958.

After high school, Terry had a short career working as an operator at Michigan Bell, where she was talked into going on a blind date by a friend and co-worker with a dashing young man named Ronald Covietz. After several years of courtship, they married in 1959, and began creating a growing family of children shortly thereafter. Terry was a devoted, endlessly loving, and much loved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Terry did it all to raise her children, managing every challenging moment and household issue while Ronald was away on work travel numerous times a year. As grandchildren arrived, she asserted a vitally important, loving, and supportive role in their lives as well.

While handling with grace, smarts, and love the challenges of raising a large family, Terry took great delight in hosting dinner parties and creating magnificent holiday celebrations filled with food, warmth, gifts, and happiness worthy of a Hallmark movie. During and after raising five children, Terry managed a second career as a warm-hearted and trusted salesperson; creating satisfied and devoted department store customers that spanded the sale of items as varied as distinctive shoes, high end women's clothing, and premium home furniture.

Terry was the beloved wife of the late Ron for 63 years. Loving mother of Laurice (the late Frank) Covietz-Freel, Roger (Pamela), Kevin (Sharon), Kristopher, and Ryan (Elona). Proud grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of 6. Dear sister of the late Myrna (the late Tom) and the late Nancy (the late Fred).

Visitation for Mrs. Covietz will be held on Friday, December 20th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of her Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Her burial will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Wixom Cemetery, on the corner of Maple and Wixom Roads in Wixom, Michigan.
