Our brother, cousin, and friend Dennis Joseph Godfrey passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024 at his residence in Livonia, MI. Dennis is survived by his brothers Michael Godfrey and Thomas Godfrey, nephew David (Whitney) Godfrey, niece Jayne (Jimmy - U.S. Navy E6) Fanelli, grandniece Raven Fanelli, and grandnephews Chase and Logan Godfrey. He is predeceased by his brother Mark (Nancy) Godfrey, and parents David Edward Godfrey and Elizabeth Jane (Snyder) Godfrey. Dennis was born at Henry Ford Hospital on November 28, 1944. His family moved several times before settling back in Detroit where he started a 36-year career as an X-ray film developer at Providence Hospital. Dennis loved to listen to and attend Detroit sporting events, especially Tigers games. He also enjoyed spirited political and news discussions. Hanging out with friends at various local establishments was high on his social calendar. Bowling was a passion as well. He was very active with the local, midwestern, and national blind bowling organizations. The Lion’s Club was a lifeline to Dennis and he in turn helped support their causes. Hats off to the legion of “Dennis’s Community” who loved and cared for him for so many decades. You know who you are. Dennis loved every one of you. His life was fuller because you cared. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills on Saturday, November 23rd. Gathering will began at 10:30 a.m., Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. (luncheon to be announced). In lieu of flowers, Dennis hoped donations could be made to Michigan Blind Bowling Association, 29172 Eldon, Farmington Hills, MI 48336 and Lion’s Club, 4511 McKinley, Dearborn Heights, MI 48125.
