Lutie H. Moore, age 95 of Farmington Hills, passed away October 20, 2024. Born on November 11, 1928, on a farm in Brookville, Indiana, Lutie moved to Hamilton, Ohio, at the age of eight, where she first experienced the wonders of electricity and running water—moments that sparked her lifelong appreciation for the simple joys of life. In 1948, Lutie married her sweetheart, Henry Moore Jr., beginning a remarkable partnership that would last 73 wonderful years. Together, they called many places home, including Dayton, Ohio; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Eden Prairie, Minnesota, before settling in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where they created lasting memories. Lutie’s passion for floral design blossomed into a celebrated career. As a talented floral designer, she skillfully crafted arrangements for over 600 weddings and taught floral arranging at Longacre House, sharing her gift with many eager learners. Flowers were more than just her profession; they were an expression of her vibrant spirit. A passionate cook, Lutie cherished hosting family holiday dinners, from summer cookouts to festive gatherings, and was renowned for her deviled eggs, garlic toast, and the horseradish she lovingly grew and ground herself. Her generosity extended beyond family, as she dedicated her time to cooking Sunday dinners for the homeless at St. Fabian’s for nearly 20 years, embodying her belief in giving back to the community. An active member of the North Farmington Garden Club, where she served as president, Lutie also participated in the Welcome Wagon upon moving to Michigan in the 1970s. She had a lively spirit and loved playing pinochle with friends, engaging in countless games with both couples and her close-knit circle of lady friends. Lutie was deeply committed to her local church, contributing her time and talent to arrange altar flowers for St. Fabian’s and St. Coleman’s each week, and for special holidays. Her dedication to her faith was evident in her volunteer work with catechism programs for young children and her efforts to bring weekly communion and monthly mass to fellow residents at StoryPoint senior living community just two years ago. Lutie was a friend to all, known for her warm smile, kind heart, and unyielding spirit of service. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and community involvement that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Lutie was the beloved wife of the late Henry Moore, Jr. Loving mother of Terrance (Yvette) Moore, Margo (Kenneth) Wenzel, and Christopher Moore. Proud grandmother of T.J. (Brittney), Travis, Trevor (Casondra), Tristan, Kyle (Natalie) and Camille and great-grandmother of 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Dearest sister of the late Al and Margaret. Lutie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation for Lutie will be held Thursday, October 24th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will lie in state on Friday, October 25th, at 10:30 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.
