Michael G. Tucci

December 8, 1943 - October 10, 2024

Michael G. Tucci, age 80 of Waterford, departed from us suddenly on October 10, 2024, joining our Lord, on whom his faith rested.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Lorna and his son Michael (Ginger), and two grandsons, Elleo and Lorenzo, along with his brother James (Camille), and many beloved nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sisters Miriam Abbe and Joann Windiate. Michael was the third child of Michael and Melba Tucci. The Tucci Family resided in Warren, Michigan, in the early years when Warren and much of suburban Detroit was farmer fields and dirt roads. Given, then, was a Norman Rockwell kind of childhood for he and his brother and two sisters: endless baseball games, woods to explore, lifelong friends, moms and grandmas home cooking for family who came through the door day and night.

Mike served in the US Navy where he became head of communications on his assigned ship. Blessed to serve around the world largely in peace, it awoke his love for travel. Many visits to the Caribbean and Europe would follow in the empty nester years. Love of his country continued all his days.

His son Michael was his greatest jewel. Mike was quite the athlete himself, so father and son bonded in soccer, swimming and baseball. The tradition continues between Michael and his children. Buttons popped in pride when Michael graduated from Michigan State University, started a successful business, and found our wonderful Ginger, who blessed Mike with two grandsons.

In service to the International Order of Alhambra, faith like a candle’s ignition was cemented by friendship and counsel with the late Fr. Kent Hajduk. Four girls came into his life when the family assumed parentage of boxer dogs over the years. At his passing, 11 lb. Suzie (Cavapoo) stepped in to fulfill her honorable role as dog to his “a man and his dog.”

Mike and Lorna moved to Cass Lake where his love of boating, barbequing, and entertaining family, neighbors and friends flourished. Mike was the brother/cousin/friend/parishioner who stayed in touch;  in fact, Mike never met a stranger, as the old saying goes.

Fourteen years of minor and major illnesses came to him in his final years. He and Lorna never stopped writing their love story.

A visitation for Mike will be held on Sunday, October 20th, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with an evening Scripture Service at McCabe Funeral Home,  31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Gathering will continue on Monday, October 21st, at 9:30 a.m., until the time of his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 3700 Commerce Rd., Orchard Lake. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

Memorial donations in Mike’s name can be made to Smile Train
