Loretta “Laura” Szajner, age 92, passed away October 9, 2024. She was born July 2, 1932 to Stanley and Sophia Swiatkowski.

Laura grew up in Hamtramck, Michigan and loved it there. She graduated from St. Florian Catholic School and worked for Chrysler for 30 years. She even got her brother employed there. She loved to go out dancing after work, where she met her future husband, Robert “Bob”. They were married for 59 years. Her husband was a renowned musician, even popular overseas. In many ways, she was his MUSE. They loved to travel, owned a condo in Orange Beach, and loved taking their niece and nephews on excursions.

She will be sorely missed by her sister-in-law Jan Swiatkowski, her Goddaughter Laura (Ernie) Zablocki, Brent and Bonnie, nephew John (Maria) Swiatkowski, Alexa and Ava, nephew Darryl (Cris) Swiatkowski, Luke and Claire, her aunt Stephanie Smolarek (age 108), and many dear cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, her brother Tom and her sister Arlene.

Visitation for Laura will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will lie in state on Thursday, October 17th, at 10:30 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterford.
