Robert Douglas Sassak, age 85 of West Bloomfield, passed away October 6, 2024. He was born September 1, 1939 in Detroit to Alexander and Irene Sassak. 

A graduate of University of Detroit Mercy, Bob was a registered architect and the proprietor of Robert Sassak Architect Ltd. He designed many wonderful projects including the Focus Hope Center for Children, St. Fabian Catholic Chuch, St. Sabina Catholic Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lakeside Bible Chapel, and numerous other churches, schools, and medical facilities. He also taught architectural design at Lawrence Institute of Technology from 1969 until 1984. In his spare time, Bob was an avid painter and photographer, fitness enthusiast, and devoted grandfather. 

Bob was the beloved husband of Karen for 61 years. Loving father of Mark (Becky), Eric (Rebecca), and Kirk. Proud grandfather of Ethan, Emma, Ellie, Aschalew, Fanos, Spencer and Joseph. Dear brother of Christopher (Kristen), Gary (Pattie), Ron (Lori), the late Beverly (the late John) Wallard and the late Alex (Sandy).

A gathering for Bob will be held on Monday, October  14th, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.

Memorial donations in Bob’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
