Timothy Peter James Wilson

April 12, 1946 - July 4, 2024

Timothy Peter James Wilson, age 78 of Farmington Hills, passed away July 4, 2024. He was born April 12, 1946 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the son of Cliff and Joan Wilson.

After childhood in Montreal and Toronto, Tim and his family moved to Detroit. He attended Hillsdale College, receiving his bachelor’s degree and continued his education at the University of Michigan, where he earned his master’s degree in history. Tim’s lengthy career in broadcasting began in National Radio Sales and truly started to flourish as an account executive for WJLB due to his passion for music. He then transitioned into sales management and corporate marketing for various radio and television stations including WJZZ, CKLW and Detroit Public TV. Throughout his career, Tim remained dedicated and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the job.

While in his earlier years of the advertising industry, Tim would meet his soon to be wife, Sharon. Together, they threw quite the New Year’s Eve party, surprising their guests with a ride to the wedding chapel. Tim and Sharon exchanged vows 10 seconds before the clock struck midnight, making theirs the last wedding of the decade. After that, friends joined back at the home and continued to celebrate the New Year and the new Mr. and Mrs. Wilson.

Passionate in everything he did, Tim had a genuine personality with a great sense of humor to match. He was an honest man with strong convictions, never afraid to share his opinions. Tim’s enthusiasm to engage with those around him was done with a charm only he was known for. He was always there for his family, friends and colleagues, offering constant support. And although some may say he could be a bit picky in certain aspects, Tim preferred to remain positive and labeled himself as “a man who knows what he likes”.

Aside from his successful career, Tim always made time for the simpler things in life. He enjoyed his peace and quiet, relaxing in his backyard and spending time at home with his family. He looked forward to summer trips to the cottage in Muskoka, Ontario and visits to Downtown Detroit. He kept active with swimming and yoga, and of course, he loved his hockey. Tim has left countless memories for all to cherish, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Tim was the beloved husband of Sharon for 35 years. Loving father of Jeff and Steven (Pan Wen). Proud grandfather of Charlotte and Chloe. Dear brother of Rodney, David and Bradley and brother-in-law of Barbara and Debbie. Uncle of Kevin (Lisa), Dylan, Nicole, Abby, and Jessica.

Memorial gathering for Tim will be held on Sunday, July 14th, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.
