Sharon Halleran

March 23, 1947 - June 25, 2024

Sharon Halleran, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away suddenly at the age of 77 on June 25, 2024 in Northville. She was born in a small village farmhouse in Bellananagh, County Cavan, Ireland on March 23, 1947.

Adopted at two years old, Sharon was welcomed to the United States and into the home of her adoptive parents, Robert and Helen Sill. She was raised in Detroit and a graduate of Cooley High School. After graduation, Sharon remained in the area and accepted a position with Ford Motor Company. She retired as an Administrative Assistant after 35 years of dedicated work and loyal devotion to the company.

The bond Sharon formed with her Ford family was always very important to her. She made lifelong friends, even meeting the future love of her life through her work colleagues. James Halleran came into her life at just the right time, and the two became inseparable. Together, they were avid golfers and looked forward to their many trips to Hilton Head Island. She also enjoyed things on her own, like playing tennis weekly for many years.

Sharon always dreamed of being a mother, which gave her the courage to travel independently to Moscow, Russia and adopt her first child, Shannon. Two years later Sharon and James exchanged vows at the Martha-Mary Chapel in Greenfield Village. After some time, Shannon’s insistence of having a sibling encouraged Jim and Sharon to welcome another child from Russia, and her sister Erin joined the family.

As with anyone’s natural curiosity to find out more about their origins, Sharon set out to discover her ancestry later into her adulthood. Learning all this new information certainly came with challenges and self-reflection, especially while raising two daughters of her own. As time continued Sharon was able to find more information by contacting her biological family. She found information that was delicate and held close to her heart. She was able to travel to Ireland with her daughters and visit biological family members. This brought peace and comfort to Sharon.

She continued the relationships she built with her fellow parents that adopted from Russia and looked forward to the many dinners that were shared. With generational and personality differences at hand, Sharon remained a loving and encouraging mother to her daughters. Not much of a chef, Sharon took the opportunity to go out with the family to her favorite restaurants, either Antonio’s or Max & Erma’s. But come Thanksgiving time, she made sure to go all out and host a perfect dinner.

The lifelong friends and relationships Sharon made while at Ford continued well after she left the workforce. She looked forward to all her lunch dates with her best friends. Above all else, Sharon shined the brightest when she was with her granddaughter, Mina. She truly brought her such pride and joy. Sharon will always be remembered as a devoted wife to James for 18 years, loving mother to Erin Halleran, Shannon and Markus Wolfram, and a proud grandmother of Mina Wolfram and one more on the way.
