Rose "Cathy" Abbott, age 85 of West Bloomfield, passed away March 28, 2023.

Ever the quintessential matriarch, Cathy focused on family, friends, and living her best life possible. She looked forward to every family event and spending time with those she cherished the most. Her loving and caring nature was evident through her words and actions, as she was genuinely excited to share in conversation with any company she kept. Cathy was known to appreciate a good party, especially if a game of Pinochle was being played. She loved to shop, not only for herself, but for her grandchildren too, making sure they were always well-dressed. Simply put, Cathy adored her family.

A cherished mom and grandma to all, Cathy was a beacon whose light always shined so brightly. Her positive attitude, quick witted humor, and unmatched charm will be missed by all. She was truly one of a kind. One of Cathy’s favorite things to do was travel with her family. Although it wasn’t known at the time, Cathy’s last days were spent on a family vacation making the final memories that her family will treasure forever. She was surrounded with endless love and laughter, just as she always wanted. From one paradise to the next, Cathy joined her beloved Pat for the ultimate vacation, eternal rest with her Lord.

Cathy was the beloved wife of Pat for 58 years. Loving mother of David (Jill) and Richard (Vickie). Proud grandmother of Lauren (Ray) Zada, Nicholas (Carrie) Stinson, Alyssa (Kyle) Sweeney, Katie (Alec Romanowski), Erika, and Julia. Great-grandmother of Savannah, Connor and Emersyn. Dear sister of Paul (Marguerite) Brown, Michael (Karen) Brown, and Joanne (Clifford) DeWolfe.

Visitation for Mrs. Abbott will be held on Tuesday, April 4th, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will lie in state on Wednesday, April 5th, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Rd., West Bloomfield. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Cathy’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Kiwanis Club of Dearborn.
