Billy "Bill" Wayne Weatherford, age 88, of West Bloomfield, lost his fight with ALS on Friday, February 17, 2023.

Bill was born June 1, 1934, the son of Maurice “Jack” and Alta “Leona” (Jeffrey) Weatherford. Beloved husband of Mary (Kalasky) Weatherford for 50 years.  Loving father of Dennis (Cathy) Weatherford, Denise Weatherford, Lynne (Blaine) Leslie, Kim Marvin, and David (Andrea) Weatherford.  Grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 4.  He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Rita (Gordon) Ellison and Carol (David) Hunter, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Gary (Geraldine) Anscombe and brothers-in-law, Jack (Gee) Kalasky and Jim (Lynn) Kalasky.

Bill was honored to serve his country as a pilot in the Navy. This began a lifelong interest in flight as he got his private pilot license and traveled around the country. He was also an avid boater captaining everything from small speedboats to sailboats and larger watercraft.

He loved spending time with family. Whether we were vacationing in Florida, Palm Springs or at his home in Wyoming, Bill shared generously of his time and interests. He was an avid fisherman and hunter but also loved quiet pursuits like reading and creating beautiful stained glass hangings. He was in his element when he was sharing his knowledge and passions for everything from hunting and fishing to hunting ghost crabs, shooting at the gun range and teaching us to drive motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats, dune buggies and cars.

Bill was a no-nonsense, down to earth man who could captivate an audience with a story or one of his many jokes! He was the go-to guy when you had a question, about just about anything, and was lovingly referred to as the “Answer Dad”.  He will be missed.

A Memorial Visitation for Bill will be held Saturday, February 25th, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of his Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be directed to ALS of Michigan or Michigan Veterans Affairs.
