Lynda Bendelow-Ruark of West Bloomfield, MI passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 75 years old. Beloved wife of Don. Cherished mother of Elyse (Jeff), Jill (Justin), Lauren (Dan). Proud Grammy/Grammukah of Logan, Avery, Declan, Jack, and Max. She is survived by her cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Eleanor.

Lynda attended Michigan State University and graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a middle school and high school teacher at Redford Union before becoming a mother. Lynda was a caring, active, and engaged parent, frequently volunteering at her children’s schools and welcoming their many friends into her home. After raising her children, Lynda returned to teaching at Wayne Westland school district. She received her master’s degree in education from Marygrove College. She retired after many years of service in 2013.

Don and Lynda married in 2012, spending 10 years of laughter and adventures together. Splitting their time between Michigan and Florida, they enjoyed frequent motorcycle rides, bocce ball tournaments, golfing, and outings with friends. Lynda was an avid genealogist who loved sports cars, going on hikes, boating on the Great Lakes, and spending time with her family and friends. In retirement, Lynda was a member of DAR’s Piety Hill Chapter where she helped organize their Good Citizens Program that recognizes outstanding students for their good citizenship.

Visitation for Lynda will be held on Saturday, October 15th, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. memorial service at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.

The family welcomes donations in Lynda’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or any charity of the donor’s choice.
