Barbara Jean Unger, age 75 of Canton Township, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, due to complications from Covid.

Barbara was born on December 22, 1945, in Detroit to Jess and Harriett (Bradley) Hull. She graduated from Mackenzie High School in 1964 and received an Associate’s degree from the University of Detroit in 1966.  After working for more than 15 years as a dental hygienist, she became a dedicated unit secretary in the pulmonary ward at Botsford Hospital before retiring in 2013. She was deeply religious, and sang in choirs her entire life.  She loved spending time with family and friends and was fiercely devoted to caring for her youngest child, Gregory, who suffered from Cystic Fibrosis.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Jim Tucker for nearly 30 years. Loving mother of Kristopher (Susana), Jamieson Crosson (Keith), and Gregory (deceased). Dear sister of the late Marjorie Chalk (Timothy). Loving aunt of Timothy Jr. (Terri), Jeffrey (Grace), and Brian Chalk.  And stepmother to Dawn, Kevin (Nikki), and Scott Tucker.  She is also survived by her ex-husband, William Unger (Jackie), as well as her six grandchildren, who she loved so very much:  Garrett, Ryan, and Nolan Crosson; and Matias, Lucas, and Cecilia Unger-Ramirez.

Visitation for Barbara will be held on Sunday, December 12th, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 North Canton Center Road, Canton. The Funeral Service will be Monday, December 13th at 11 a.m., at McCabe Funeral Home, Canton. Barbara will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, next to her beloved son, Gregory.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions are appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House.
