Otis J. Olson, age 92 of Novi, passed away November 21, 2021.

Otis was born on June 26, 1929, in Mendota, Illinois to Oliver and Edith Olson. He graduated from Mendota High School in 1947 and furthered his education by attending the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Otis later enrolled at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he graduated with Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked at BorgWarner Company for thirty years and Eaton Corporation for twenty years before retiring in 1998. His career provided him with the opportunity to work on nuclear submarines, transmission rods, and he could boast having many transmission patents to his name.

Otis was an avid golfer, bridge card player, and an accomplished pianist. Above all else, he was a devoted family man who loved babysitting and going on vacations with his grandchildren. His easy-going demeanor and love for his family will be missed by all.

Otis was the beloved husband of the late Donna. Loving father of Shirley (Chris) Thompson, John (Laura) Olson, and the late Robert Olson. Proud grandfather of Jennie (Will) VanLoenen, Rebbeca Thompson, Kellee Olson, David Olson (Ravenne Lang) and great-grandfather of Lily and Liam VanLoenen. Dear brother of Eleanor Zimmerlein, Doris Johnson, Marilyn (Raliegh) Shifflette and the late Maurice Olson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Olson will be held on Sunday, November 28th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 West 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 29th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Service at Nardin Park United Methodist Church, 29887 West 11 Mile Road, Farmington Hills. Mr. Olson will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.
