I Remember...

I met Louise at Michigan National Bank over 40 years ago. She was smart and funny with an infectious laugh and it was easy to become friends with her. We continued our friendship when she left the bank to pursue her law degree. When she and two other friends retired (or semi retired), we started a dinner club of sorts that continues to this day. We will miss Louise's smile and thoughtful conversation at these gatherings. Louise was fortunate to be loved and cared for by her children and well supported by her Catholic faith. I know that she and Jim are enjoying their heavenly rewards.

My first memory of Louise was finding out that she was going to marry my big brother Jimmy and that I was going to be in their wedding! The next thing I knew I was going to be an AUNT at age 13. Louise taught me many things including making bread , making her famous birthday cake and frosting, how to knit, and she even attempted to tutor me in English and French. I spent a lot of time with Louise in Euclid, Cleveland Hts, and Eastlake. Louise and Jimmy hosted many picnics at their tiny home/big yard in Eastlake including tent camping I always admired Louise and her ability to multi task including co-raising three lovely children with Jimmy and achieving her educational and professional goals. She was extremely bright. I never wanted to play trivia with her. I just watched. She always won! . Lately I was able to share some quality time again with Louise when she came and stayed with me in Mentor, Ohio. We shared lots of memories and laughs. I still can't believe she isn't able to visit again but I truly believe she is at peace being with Jim again. Eddie, you were a wonderful son and primary caregiver for your parents. I know it wasn't easy. Lara and Rebecca, you are very special ladies/daughters. What wonderful care and support you provided for your mom and dad. Yours parents were always talking about how lucky they were to have the three of you. Love, Aunt Di.

Louise was a special friend since we met in seventh grade, 67 years ago. I will miss her but still have many memories of high school, football games, dances, and trips to Euclid Beach. Jim and Louise got married in 1966 and a year later I married and left for San Francisco. We drifted apart, but renewed our friendship a few years later, when we started traveling together. Ron and Jim became close friends and we, along with Diane had so many good times. We teased each other, argued, made fun of each other and always laughed. I will always remember and love Louise.
