I Remember...

Mrs. Marge Waineo was a woman of grace and dignity. She possessed a reserved demeanor, a likely by-product of growing up in an earlier simpler time. In a world now shaded in grey, Mrs. Waineo was a woman who never lost her compass. Upon the passing of her dear husband Richard, she willingly took on the role of "anchor" for her family, so that her children and grandchildren could spread their wings and fly about her. A kind woman of modest needs, she was a shining example of humility and acceptance. In all the times we spoke, I never heard her condemn nor disparage another person. I recall an exchange we had many years ago shortly after the birth of my first son Michael. I was sitting next to her at a family gathering. She turned and asked me how I managed to look so thin such a short time after having him. I responded that it was my experience that people eat less when they are really happy or really stressed and it was the former with me. What she said in return made me smile at her wisdom...Well I don't think I'm going to be having a baby anytime soon, so I guess I'll have to get used to a few extra pounds. I don't want to waste time being stressed. There are a lot better things to do. Mrs. Waineo, a wise woman to her last day. She will be missed!
