We were driving home from the store. Mama wanted shish kabob for dinner that night. I had a whole bunch of wooden skewers with me. Papa Elias started picking at his teeth. After a few minutes, he said "I will give you $5 for a toothpick!" Without blinking an eye, I reached into the backseat and pulled out a skewer! He couldn't believe it! And yes... I made 5 dollars!

So my favorite story about Papa Elias goes like this: Papa Elias wanted all of us kids to come over. I was at home and he called, he told me that the meat Loretta used to roll the grape leaves was bad, "they just put it on the news". He told me throw it down the drain. He told me to leave the phone open while I put it in the disposal, so I did. Loretta came home to cook the grape leaves for Robby, I told her what Papa Elias said and what I did, she was so upset! She said that he wanted everyone there but Loretta told him that she was making dinner for Robby and could not go. Needless to say Papa Elias got his way!

He was the best Grandfather. He was a funny man,also very sweet. I will miss him a lot!

I remember the day I was told about the story of Jiddo and Tiata being in Paris at the Eiffel Tower, a bird pooped on Jiddo's head. Tiata couldn't stop laughing. I love you a lot!

He was a wonderful son, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, husband, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, and above all an example to follow.

When I was an apprentice in the early 80's I worked with Louie. He had quite the sense of humor and I learned a lot from him in the small machine dept. with Walter Parks. My heartfelt condolences to the Akouri family.
