I Remember...

I am the husband of Sister Mary Andrew's youngest niece, Janet. One of my fondest memories of SMA was when her and I chatted during one of our family visits to Michigan from our home in Colorado. I asked SMA how was the nun business going and she asked back how was the building business? We both said things were good enough. She asked how I liked Colorado and what did I like to do. I told her mostly skiing and but really anything outdoors. I told her that I was excited about trying hang-gliding. She just replied that I should not do that. I said its no big deal, you just take a lesson and go flying. She then looked me in the eyes and sternly said don't! Well, given her scope of work and knowledge of things up high and above, she scared me, and I never did try hang-gliding. I will remember SMA mostly for her spiritual kindness and the quiet gentle peace that I felt around her. Job well done! God Bless you and I know you will rest in peace

Sr. Andrew was my former supervisor when I worked in the Admitting Office at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Detroit. She was soft spoken and hard working. I received encouragement from her and as years went by, I became the supervisor of the department when Sr. Andrew moved on to her work at Cass Corridor. I remember her tragedy of losing her parents and the strength she endured to go on after her loss. God Bless Her.
