Condolence

My heart-felt condolences to the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Mr. Seavitt was an absolutely amazing teacher and person who touched so many lives. I hope that every child is lucky enough to have a teacher as dedicated and knowledgable as this man. Mr. Seavitt was my 8th grade teacher for both Algebra and History. Mr. Seavitt's kindness, consideration and knowledges were cherished by all of his students. I experienced significant learning difficulties in the area of Math throughout my educational career, Mr. Seavitt was caring and compassionate to spend endless hours with my Mother on the phone to discuss ways in which may improve my learning and provide me with additional opportunities to boost my grade. He was understanding, genuine and sensitive to student's needs. One of my greatest memories of middle school is Mr. Seavitt allowing us to make popcorn while watching Apollo 13 in his class. He will be missed by all.

Mr. Seavitt was one of the greatest teachers I've ever known. He created a classroom environment that was predictable and welcoming. He implemented a system that was easy to understand and promoted independence and rewarded achievements. I will always remember the trip to Greenfield Village that was awarded to the top students in each of his History classes. His style was unique and he always had a joke. As a teacher myself, I think of him often. What an influential role model! Thank you! Thoughts and prayers to family and friends. PMS '95

Mr. Seavitt, What can I say. Time passes so quickly. It seems like only yesterday I was in one of your classes, learning from your seemingly endless wisdom, and soaking in your wealth of knowledge about a fun fact here and there. My to-do list has, for awhile now, included a reminder to reach out to you. I had meant to fill you in on all of the goings-on in my life: Married; expecting our first; passed the bar exam; so many exciting things to share, all of which were affected by you in some small way or another. My heart breaks for you and your loved ones. Your presence was a treasure, and the memories you left are just as precious. Your ability to connect to others on a personal and individual basis, while simultaneously imparting meaningful information, was truly one of your greatest traits. You were a joy to be around, and made a room light up with your humor. Your presence has forever left a mark on my conscious, and I am sincerely better because of it. May we meet again someday. Warmest regards,

"Uncle" Jim was a very special person for our family. He would always come over and recount our family history, which was very special to my family. He always made it a point to ask questions about others and take an interest in their stories. He truly made everyone feel very special in their own unique way. He was very loved by everyone and will be sorely missed. Jim touched the lives of many people, and he will be remembered very fondly and lovingly.

I was lucky to have Jim as a classmate and friend at Dearborn High. We had a chance to catch up at our recent reunion and true to his thoughtfulness Jim could recall our shared memories from 50 years ago. Thank you, Jim, for making our lives richer and this world a better place.

I am so sad that Mr. Seavitt passed away so young. He was easily the most respected teacher I ever encountered in the FPS system. Rest In Peace Mr. Seavitt, you touched more lives than you will ever know.

Dear Seavitt family, please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. May the words at Revelations 21 : 3,4 provide you comfort during this difficult time.

To the family of Mr. Seavitt, we are shocked at Mr. Seavitt's passing and just learned of his death yesterday. We had an appointment with him on the 2nd at the library and when he did not show we thought perhaps he was visiting his family in Ohio. He was my 7th grade math teacher at Power in 1970 and my daughter's tutor for the past 5 years. We are devastated and sincerely hope his kindness and gentleness will be carried on. Thank you for sharing this this wonderful man and teacher.,

I am so heart broken to learn that Jim Seavitt is no longer blessing the lives of the young people in this world. He was absolutely the kindest and smartest person I have ever known. Time and space disconnected us, but his influence will live forever. He was a genuine and loving man. When our family came to pay our respects for his mother's passing, his devotion to those he loved became very clear. Jim Seavitt made his mark on more children than can ever be counted. He devoted his whole life to helping children discover math. His legacy will live on silently in all the lives of the chidren that he has taught. Thank you Mr. Seavitt for all you gave your students and for all your years of service to our kids. You will be remembered and missed!
