Vesna Prepolec, age 46, passed away on May 9, 2026. Born on October 18, 1979, Vesna grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where her joyful spirit and artistic nature revealed themselves early on. She discovered a passion for music that took her far beyond the classroom, performing with her school orchestra and earning a place in the prestigious Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestra. She also graced the stage in ballet performances of The Nutcracker, adding another dimension to her artistic life. Vesna graduated from Lahser High School and went on to earn a degree in Business Management from Oakland University. She built a successful career spanning roughly fifteen years as a marketing analyst, working primarily in the automotive industry. For the last five years, she set out for a new chapter, trying her luck in Santa Barbara, California. Outside of work, Vesna's creativity never rested. She devoted time to art projects and had a natural eye for beauty in everything around her. She had an exceptional sense of style and a remarkable gift for walking into a resale shop and coordinating a stunning outfit. She was also a gifted cook, and those lucky enough to taste her legendary potato salad know it was something truly one of a kind that simply cannot be replicated. She had a tender heart for animals, especially the cats who shared her home. With her “co-conspirators” aunt Melanie and uncle Jan, she made sure that these tender creatures always got a lot of love and affection. She found deep joy in the moments she could show up for her family and offer her help. She had an especially close bond with her sister, and it was heartwarming to watch how they showed up for each other over and over again. Being a kind hearted person, Vesna treasured her parents, her sister, and the many friends and family members who filled her life with love. No matter the distance, her heart always remained close to those she loved most. She is survived by her beloved mother, Dr. Milena Cankovic; her dear sister, Tania Prepolec; and many extended family members across the United States and Croatia. She was preceded in death by her father, William Zvonko Prepolec. Memorial gathering for Vesna will be held Friday, June 26th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Memorial donations in Vesna's name may be directed to the Michigan Humane Society or CARES of Farmington Hills.
