Elaine Roberta Smith of Novi, Michigan, passed away on April 1, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 85 years old.

Elaine was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 60 years, James R. Smith. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Julie Smith McCoskey (Walter), and her deeply loved grandchildren, Makayla and Monica McCoskey, the pride and joy of her life.

Elaine's kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, as she always put the needs of others above her own. She was a dedicated first grade teacher in the Wayne-Westland School District for over 30 years. Her nurturing and caring personality extended far beyond her profession. She selflessly cared for her husband, Jim, providing comfort and support throughout his later years. Elaine will also forever be remembered by her family for turning every birthday and holiday into a lasting memory with a delicious meal and heartfelt celebration.

A loving mom, grandma, aunt, friend, and neighbor, Elaine will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom will forever live on in the hearts of all those she touched.

A Funeral Service to honor Elaine's life will be held Monday, April 8th, at 12:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Elaine's Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m.
