Mrs. Mary Josephine Woods passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Sunrise of North Farmington Hills.  She was born the only child of Emil and Mary Josephine (Sperlich) Elliott.  On May 3, 1958 she was married to Martin Woods in Grosse Pointe Park.  He preceded her in death in 2014.

Mrs. Woods enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening, and travel. One of her greatest joys was spending time sailing with her husband, family and friends.  Mary Jo and Martin wintered in Texas for 30 years and enjoyed visits from those close to them. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe as a nurse.

Mrs. Woods is survived by her 4 loving children; Martin Woods, Karen (Michael) Gaunt, Sandra Woods and David (Julie) Woods.  Fond grandmother of 6 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Visitation will be held at St Fabian Catholic Church on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 10:30 until the time of her Funeral Mass at 12 noon at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, MI. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 25200 Telegraph Rd., Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033 in lieu of flowers.
