Edward M. Rozman

November 14, 1927 - April 27, 2016

EDWARD MARTIN ROZMAN, Age 88, passed away the morning of April 27, 2016 in West Bloomfield and went to be with his Lord after a brief illness. He was born on November 14, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of John and Anna Rozman.

Ed graduated from Collinwood High School in 1945 and served our country in the Navy. He married Flora Rusnak in 1948 in Cleveland. They knew each other since they were both 6 years old.

He pursued a college degree graduating with a bachelor’s in mathematics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Shortly after graduation he accepted a position with the Aetna Life Insurance Company at its headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut. Sons Gregg and Doug were born in Hartford. In 1958 the family moved to Chicago and Ed worked for Marsh and McLennan as a mathematician with an emphasis on actuarial science. Ed’s family made their home in the Chicago suburb of Palatine. Daughter Jane’s birth followed shortly after the move.

In 1965, Ed accepted his dream job as Executive Vice-President of TIC Corporation, an independent administration firm whose clients included many of the area’s largest collectively bargained pension and health and welfare plans. Pension funds administered by Ed included those for the Detroit area Carpenters’, Operating Engineers, Bricklayers and Laborers. Ed and Flo made their home in West Bloomfield. Ed remained with TIC as head of the Detroit office until his retirement in 1993.

Before and after his retirement, he and Flo were passionate travelers who visited Australia, Austria, The Bahamas, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hawaii, Hungary, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and The Virgin Islands. Ed also enjoyed playing racquetball through his fifties. The simple pleasure of a good meal with good people was one his favorite things in life and his appetite was strong up until his brief illness. Ed and Flo have been members of Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church since the year 2000.

Surviving family include his beloved wife of 67 years, Flora; sons Gregg (Deborah Brady) and Douglas (Sandi); daughter Roz (formerly Jane) (Thomas) Byrne; granddaughter Gina. His 99 year old sister, Mary Reber, also survives.

Visitation Friday 5pm-8:30pm at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Funeral Service Saturday 2:30pm at Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church, 3600 Telegraph Rd, Bloomfield Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in his name.
