Timothy C. Mather

December 14, 1928 - March 28, 2016

MATHER, TIMOTHY CLARK, 87 of Farmington Hills, Michigan, died Monday, March 28th. Born in Jamestown, New York, he grew up in the Detroit area and enjoyed summers at his grandparents’ farm near Midland. He graduated from Detroit Northwestern High School where he met Suzanne Cochrane. They were married 63 years.

After serving as an Army officer during the Korean War, he returned to Detroit and graduated from Wayne State University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and was also in a doctoral program.

He rejoined the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (MVMA) where he began his career in his teens. He retired after 34 years with the Association as Manager of Occupational Safety and Health Research.

Concurrent to his automotive industry career, he was a faculty member of the business departments at Henry Ford and Oakland Community Colleges. He retired in 1998 at age 70.

He was a member of Central Northwest Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir, serving as Treasurer, and directing the expansion fundraising drive.

Along with his beloved wife Suzanne, he is survived by 4 children; Dianne, Lisa, Timothy, and Leslie and 3 grandchildren; Michael, Mikki, and Timothy.

Visitation Thursday, March 31st, 6pm-8pm with his Funeral Service Friday, April 1st, 11am at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Interment at Grand Lawn Cemetery, Grand River Ave, Detroit. Memorial Contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse Billy Graham Ministries.
