Our beautiful mother, Marie Therese Loftis, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 25. Marie was born on May 10, 1925, and was a lifelong resident of the Detroit area. Preceding her in death are parents, LeRoy and Sarah Upchurch; son, James Kelly Loftis; brother, Tom Upchurch; and, dear friend, Rita Bell Hanson. She is survived by children: Trudie (Tom) King; Martha (Peter) Maceroni; Peter (Shelley) Loftis; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren,  niece Marie, nephews, and many good friends. Marie, a graduate of the University of Michigan, had a long career with United Airlines, retiring at age 67. She had a life-long love of travel, books, flowers and reading a daily paper. Bless the staff, Sisters, and families at St. Ann’s in Grand Rapids who enjoyed laughing with Mom, and the good friends we made there.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 29, at 1:30 PM at St. Fabian Church, Farmington Hills.  Visitation begins one hour prior to mass.  Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
