SPANGENBERG, ALBERT Jr. age 83, of Farmington Hills, died Tuesday December 9th at home with his loving family at his bedside. Al was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, his sister Marjorie, and parents Albert Sr. and Anna. Al and Carolyn’s children Jim (Mary), Bill (Lori), John, and Kate (John) survive him as well as his grandchildren Aaron (Sheri), Kathryn, (Chris), Mark, Joshua, Nick and Taylor.

Al was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1954, where he met Carolyn Ziegler, whom he married in 1954. Al served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1956, then began a business career with several companies involved in concrete paving and real estate, eventually retiring from The Edward C. Levy Company.

Al and Carolyn cherished many lifelong friendships as well as close ties with many neighbors on Leamington Drive. Al was an active volunteer with several organizations, including the American Red Cross, The Farmington Goodfellows, The Gleaners food bank, The Farmington Area Commission on Aging and the First Presbyterian Church of Farmington, receiving several awards of recognition.

To celebrate Al's life there will be a Memorial Visitation Monday December 29th at 5:30pm until time of Memorial Service 6:30pm at First Presbyterian Church of Farmington, 26165 Farmington Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48334. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Beaumont Hospice,1410 E. Fourteen Mile Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071.
